Environment Policy
The Albany Port Authority (the Port) is committed to efficient and effective port services and to
conducting all of its activities in an environmentally responsible manner. The Port will meet all environmental
legislation, regulations and codes of practice relevant to the port industry and minimise negative impacts on the environment.
An environmental management system,consistant with international standards,will provide the foundation for
proactively managing and continuously improving the Ports environmental performance.
Specifically, the Albany Port Authority is committed to:
- Avoiding the pollution of waterways by strict compliance with government regulations.
- Monitoring operations to confirm compliance and provide the benchmark for setting environmental objectives and measurable targets.
- Continual improvement in environmental performance through periodic review.
- Communicating openly with the community and government, on environmental issues.
- Working closely with all port users,tenants and other government departments to promote the highest standards of environmental responsibility.
- Allocating specific responsibilities/tasks to management and staff for all activities associated with implementing this policy.
- Educating all employees and contractors of their environmental obligations through induction and training programs.
