Code

The Albany Port Authority exists to offer the people of the Great Southern Region and beyond, Port facilities to store and handle their goods in an efficient, innovative and competitive manner. The Port of Albany has always serviced the region effectively and efficiently and in order to increase its capability, it is necessary to develop its record for customer service, independence impartiality, honesty and confidentiality. This Code reinforces the principles that help develop our reputation and applies to all personnel and contractors working for the Port.

  • Personnel will act honestly, fairly and impartially and exercise due care and diligence in performing their duties.
  • Personnel must not discriminate on the basis of age, race, sex, family status and responsibility, sexuality, religion, political belief or impairment.
  • Personnel should respect the rights of the individual and should treat each other courteously. Harassment of any kind is unacceptable.
  • Personnel will ensure all dealings with other employees, clients, the general public and business will withstand public scrutiny on fairness and equity.
  • Personnel will comply with and give effect to all enactments, regulations and instructions made or issued for their guidance in the performance of their duties, or for governing the terms and conditions of their employment.
  • The Port and employees will work together to develop a closely-knit team to ensure surety of employment and prosperity for the Region.
  • The Port recognises its responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984 to provide a working environment where employees as far as possible are not exposed to unreasonable hazards.
  • The Port Authority has a responsibility to facilitate trade for the benefit of its employees and the well being of the Region.
  • The Port Authority has a responsibility to ensure that it does not take advantage of its perceived monopolistic position to the detriment of the community.
  • The Port Authority acknowledges that all employees have a right to express reasonable concerns and lodge complaints without fear or victimisation in the workplace.
